Regulatory Status
Sterling Legal Solutions Ltd is not authorised or regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. The company provides non-reserved legal services, business advisory services, and alternative dispute resolution services, and does not undertake reserved legal activities.
Where we collaborate with SRA-regulated solicitors, barristers, or authorised bodies, this will be clearly identified to clients in advance.
Although we are not SRA-regulated, we uphold professional standards that align with the ethical principles expected within the regulated legal sector. This commitment protects our clients and supports team members who may be individually regulated as solicitors or other professionals subject to their own regulatory duties.
Our mediation services are delivered in accordance with Civil Mediation Council (CMC) standards, and our members are expected to act in line with the principles of the European Code of Conduct for Mediators, which is endorsed across the EU and recognised by the CMC as a benchmark for professional mediation practice.
Sterling Legal Solutions maintains a service-wide complaints procedure that mirrors the structure and expectations set out by the Civil Mediation Council. This ensures that all complaints are handled fairly, transparently, and in line with best practice for mediation service providers.
Professional Indemnity Insurance
STERLING LEGAL SOLUTIONS LTD maintains appropriate professional indemnity insurance for the services that we provide to our clients. We also maintain public liability insurance, and, where relevant to specific activities or projects, product liability insurance.

Complaints Handling Procedure
1. Scope
This Complaints Handling Procedure applies to all services provided by Sterling Legal Solutions Ltd, including non-reserved legal services, business advisory services, mediation, and other alternative dispute resolution services, and sets out the process by which complaints are received, investigated, reviewed, and concluded.
We are committed to providing a high standard of service and to dealing with complaints fairly, promptly, and transparently.
2. How to make a complaint
If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of our services, you may submit a complaint to:
Email: complaints@sterling-legalsolutions.com
To help us investigate your complaint efficiently, please include your name, contact details, the service or matter concerned, a summary of your complaint, and any documents or information you would like us to consider.
3. Acknowledgment of complaints
All complaints will be acknowledged promptly and in writing, normally within 7 working days of receipt.
Our acknowledgment will confirm that your complaint has been received, explain the next stage of the procedure, and identify the person or role responsible for handling it.
4. Investigation
Your complaint will be reviewed and investigated by a person of appropriate seniority and, wherever possible, by someone independent of the matter complained of.
Where the complaint relates to mediation services, it will, wherever applicable, be investigated by someone other than the mediator to whom the complaint relates.
We may contact you for further information or documentation if this is required in order to investigate the complaint properly.
5. Substantive written response
We will provide a substantive written response to your complaint within 28 calendar days of receipt.
Our substantive response will normally set out:
the issues considered;
the outcome of our investigation;
the reasons for our decision; and
any action we consider appropriate in light of the matters raised.
Where it is not possible to provide a full response within that period, we will write to you explaining the reason for the delay and providing an updated timeframe for our response.
6. Internal review
If you remain dissatisfied after receiving our substantive response, you may request an internal review by writing to us within 14 days of that response.
Any internal review will, wherever possible, be conducted by a person of appropriate seniority who has not previously been involved in the matter.
We will aim to provide a final written response to any internal review within 21 working days of receiving the review request. If more time is needed, we will notify you in writing and provide an updated timeframe.
7. Mediation-related complaints
Where a complaint relates to mediation services, this procedure should be followed in the first instance and should ordinarily be exhausted before any external referral is considered.
At the conclusion of this procedure, a complainant may, in certain circumstances, be entitled to refer a mediation-related complaint to the Civil Mediation Council (CMC). Any such referral will be considered by reference to whether the matters raised are capable of amounting to serious professional misconduct and therefore meet the requisite threshold of seriousness.
A referral to the CMC is limited in scope. It is not a route to compensation, financial recompense, fee recovery, contractual dispute resolution, or appeal against the outcome of this Complaints Handling Procedure, and it cannot be used to change, overrule, or otherwise alter our internal decision. The CMC will ordinarily expect a complainant to have exhausted the mediator’s or provider’s own complaints process first, save in exceptional circumstances.
8. Records
We keep written records of complaints received, together with the steps taken to investigate and respond to them, in accordance with our internal procedures and applicable professional standards.
9. Accessibility
This Complaints Handling Procedure is published on our website and is available on request.
